Oracle Education Foundation’s Think.com is Now Available in Hindi
NEW DELHI , India , August 17, 2007: The Oracle Education Foundation announced today that Think.com is now available in Hindi. Think.com was launched in India in 2004 and is actively used by over 75,000 students and teachers in over 1,100 schools in India including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and DAV schools.
However, this is the first time that Think.com has been available in an Indian language. The Hindi user–interface will enable even more Indian students and teachers to collaborate on projects and share educational content with peers around the world – more than 2,77,000 other students and educators from 50 countries who are members of this protected online learning community.
"We have been overwhelmed by the way Indian students have responded to Think.com over the past three years. Students actively use Think.com to augment their day–to–day language, literature, science and mathematics learning," said Krishan Dhawan, managing director, Oracle India . "The availability of Think.com with a Hindi interface, will open this global learning community to thousands of Indian students."
Kiran Karnik, president, NASSCOM said, "Innovative ideas like Think.com are very welcome in a country like ours where a majority of the students are not fully proficient in English. NASSCOM and the IT industry have been making efforts to overcome this so that there is greater employability for students in global industries like IT. In this context, it is heartening to see Oracle’s effort, through Think.com, which has opened up a whole new way of learning for Indian students."
"The global collaboration and communication skills they pick up using Think.com will help students when they join the international workforce. That Oracle has made this platform available in Hindi speaks about the company’s commitment to bridge the skill gap in India ," Mr. Karnik added.
