Gissing Software Limited
Company
Overview
Established in 1991 as a consultancy developing
bespoke software for investment banks, Gissing
Software is a product company specialising in
the routing and transformation of real-time data.
Gissing Software's products address both front-office
and back-office issues for both sell-side and
buy-side organisations. Gissing's major product
is Gissing ConteX MCS, the market leading multi-vendor
contribution solution; other products include:
real-time add-ins for Excel, trade data capture,
market aggregation gateways and MiFID compliance
solutions. The company has offices in London and
New York; clients include more than 20 international
investment banks and brokers located in UK, US,
Europe and Asia.
MiFID Solution Overview
Gissing has developed two MiFID
Output Handlers, one for post-trade MiFID data
which is relevant to any company trading equities,
and one for pre-trade MiFID data which will be
of interest to organisations defined as Systematic
Internalisers by MiFID. There is also an Aggregation
Filter Gateway to assist with compliance with
the best execution provisions of MiFID.
The Gissing MiFID Post-Trade
Output Handler is designed to publish post-trade
data to a MiFID Aggregator. Since this data is
likely to be stored in a settlement, position-keeping
system or other database, this Handler is designed
to be easy to interface to the client’s
internal systems.
The Gissing MiFID Pre-Trade
Output Handler is built specifically for Systematic
Internalisers to publish pre-trade quotes to a
MiFID Aggregator. Since the pre-trade data is
likely to be available on the client’s market
data platform this handler is designed as an add-on
to a Gissing ConteX MCS installation. For new
clients this Handler can be installed as part
of a Gissing ConteX Express configuration, providing
a cost-effective, high-throughput, low-latency
solution.
The Gissing Aggregation Filter
Gateway (AFG) receives MiFID data from multiple
external venues. The client can configure the
gateway to filter only the data they’re
interested in, at pre-configured intervals. This
provides relevant data to the client’s market
data platform without it being swamped with all
available MiFID data for every instrument. All
received data is recorded, using the Oracle TimesTen
in-memory database and then written to long-term
storage to permit subsequent data mining and audit.
