Oracle in Central Government

Oracle in Central Government

Virtually all Central Government organisations use Oracle's database software as a platform for at least some of their information systems.

Oracle is #1 in Business Applications in Central Government. Of the 13 Major Departments, six use Oracle ERP applications throughout their Corporate Service functions, and only two make no use of Oracle applications. DWP not only deploy Oracle's e-business suite for all their ERP systems, but the Department also makes extensive use of Siebel for on-line processing of benefit claims - including assessment of eligibility - and of Stellent for content management of the Department's web presence.

Oracle maintains close relationships with the Cabinet Office, the Treasury and OGC to ensure that we understand the implications of central policy initiatives, and can bring this knowledge to bear when working with our Central Government customers. We have a Memorandum of Understanding with OGC that sets out standard terms and conditions under which Departments can acquire Oracle software.
