Oracle-to-Partner PR Guidelines

Determining newsworthiness is the first step in generating a press release. You should ask yourself:

Why Is This Important?

For example, in asking "why is this release important", it should put the information into context. Reporters are concerned with how our technology is changing the way their readers do their jobs, make money, please customers, etc. Show a problem that existed before that is being solved now, or the emergence of a new category of product/service that changes the way people do business.

Is It Real?

Partner announcements that do not yield products or services for up to a year will be met with editorial skepticism. New products that have resulted from a partnership, or new services that are available to customers, are usually required to meet news criteria.

Do I Have Proof Points?

Show quantifiable benefits such as "profits have increased by x amount"; "partner gained x additional customers over last year"; "productivity increased x% over the competitor."

Do I Have A Third Party Validation?

Third-party validation: When independent parties such as customers or analysts provide comments about the relevance of the news, and how they, or the industry, have benefited from it, the story becomes substantial more newsworthy and credible. Oracle will need to receive proper documented approvals from analysts and customers for specific use (and reuse) of commentary and quotes.

Partners must meet the following requirements when submitting a partner press release to Oracle:

  • Must be an Oracle PartnerNetwork member
  • Must support Oracle positioning as the world's largest enterprise software provider
  • Must directly involve Oracle or Oracle Products
  • Must be timely and newsworthy
  • Must be approved by Oracle legal
  • Must allow up to 15 days to process
