Oracle's applications are used in leading examples of Shared Services in the Public Sector.
These include the NHS Shared Financial Service, which now has over 100 NHS organisations as customers, the Prison Service, which provides Finance, HR and Procurement services to 140 prisons in England and Wales, and a number of instances in Local Government such as Suffolk's Customer Service Direct, Staffordshire Connects and the joint Northumberland/Durham initiative. Oracle's applications also underpin the DWP Shared Service, the first such service to be offered by a Government Department to other Departments across Whitehall.
Oracle's new Release 12 applications include enhanced Shared Services capability, making it easier to achieve the potential benefits that Shared Services offers. For some years we in Oracle have operated sharing of our back-office functions across our global business, and our staff's experience of using a shared service is of great value when discussing with public sector customers how they can best take the shared service agenda forward.
