T1   A digital transmission link with a capacity of 1.544Mbps.



table   A relational database structure that comprises vertical columns (attributes) and horizontal rows (tuples) of data. See also column, primary key, and row.



TCP/IP—Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol   The suite of communications protocols used to connect computers on the internet.



Telnet  

Part of the TCP/IP protocol suite that provides a universal method for accessing a remote host computer through a TCP/IP network.




terabyte   A thousand billion bytes, or a thousand gigabytes.



thin client   A system that runs a very light operating system with no local system administration and executes applications delivered over the network.



thread   The basic unit of a software program's execution.



time stamp   A date and time value written to a record when it is created or changed in the database.



TPC benchmarks   Online database performance tests run and published by the independently run Transaction Processing Performance Council. Tests include TPC-C for transaction processing; TPC-H for ad-hoc decision support; TPC-R for business reporting decision support; and TPC-W a transactional Web e-commerce benchmark.



transaction   A unit of work that modifies data and allows multiple users to access the same data concurrently.



transformation   The process of manipulating data, including cleansing, aggregating, and integrating data from multiple sources. See also ETT.



Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)   The suite of communications protocols used to connect computers on the internet.



transparent gateway   Middleware that enables viewing of data resident in a non-Oracle database from Oracle applications.



transportation   The process of moving copied or transformed data from a source to a data warehouse as part of the ETT process.



triggering data   Data that selects and loads other data on a scheduled basis.
