Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g: Innovative, Agile, Adaptable Applications for the Modern Data Center
With the launch of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g, Oracle is fundamentally transforming the way its customers develop, run, and manage their custom, packaged, and composite business applications. Across the entire family of middleware components, Oracle engineers have worked from a common set of design principles to forge unprecedented integrations between best-of-breed components. This innovative approach will help Oracle customers build agile, adaptable applications with a degree of ease that was not possible until now. Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g also delivers unprecedented support for virtualization and cloud computing.
The Four Pillars of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g
Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g includes four key components, each of which boasts its own set of innovations.
- Oracle SOA Suite 11g. This complete and integrated suite lowers the barrier to service-oriented architecture (SOA) by standardizing all components on a single Service Component Architecture (SCA). Oracle also standardized on an Event Delivery Network that ties in seamlessly with the SCA. Now customers can manage business events and application services in one place without writing custom code. Oracle further lowers the barriers to integration by adhering to industry standard process management technologies that allow customers to easily define and manage previously separate processes such as event processes, document processes, and human processes—all in a single environment without custom code.
- Oracle WebCenter Suite 11g. The only complete, open, and manageable portal platform now integrates Enterprise 2.0 capabilities into ad hoc business processes within custom and packaged enterprise applications. Oracle architects achieved this by standardizing all components on an innovative metadata management system, and on a single, flexible display technology. This enables developers and business users to quickly assemble secure composite Web applications and customizable Web sites that include Enterprise 2.0 features—all in a clean, visual environment with drag-and-drop simplicity.
- Oracle WebLogic Suite 11g. The latest version of Oracle WebLogic Server is the cornerstone technology for an application grid approach to application infrastructure. It provides the performance and clustering capabilities that an application grid needs to take advantage of the latest RAM-based storage and new hardware architectures. At the same time, an innovative Transaction Processing Monitor provides mainframe-class scale and performance for legacy systems in this open, distributed environment. By enabling application grids, Oracle WebLogic Suite 11g helps customers improve performance and reliability, while also dramatically reducing operational complexity.
- Oracle Identity Management 11g. The unique, application-centric approach at the heart of Oracle Identity Management 11g delivers vast improvements in the speed of compliance and e-discovery exercises, as well as improved worker productivity and reduced business risk. The fully integrated suite provides the foundation for Oracle's innovative service-oriented security strategy, which gives developers the freedom to build the application they want, and then quickly add or change security capabilities with plug-and-play ease. Other new platform security features enable users to externalize and centrally manage application permissions and roles.
