The Zone

The Zone—encompassing Hilton San Francisco Union Square, Hotel Nikko San Francisco, Parc 55 Wyndham, and the surrounding area—is dedicated to you October 2 – 6. Bigger, better, and exclusively Java in 2011, the Zone houses all JavaOne sessions and activities within easy walking distance. New areas this year include hang spaces designed for casual networking; the Powerplay Lounge for charging devices, playing games, and musical jamming; the Buzz House, serving morning and afternoon liquid libations; and the Animation Station, where you can create your own video flip book. Back by popular demand are the Candy Bar, the Game Zone, and additional meet-up and lounge spaces.

Stop by one of JavaOne's Buzz House stations to grab a morning cappuccino or afternoon beer. Buzz House stations are located in the Mason Street Café and Parc 55 Wyndham hotel and are open for business Monday and Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Centrally located in the Mason Street Café, the Community Hub provides a designated area for meeting up with some of the thousands of fellow Java developers and architects thronging the Zone this week. It's also the place to go to check out the new digital Java Magazine, produced by and for the Java community, and to pick up complimentary DVDs, T-shirts and more from Oracle Technology Network, THE source for technical information about Java.

Bring your JavaOne experience to life with a personalized interactive flip book. Step behind the camera at the Animation Station kiosk in the Java Exhibition Hall (Hilton San Francisco Union Square Continental Ballroom), make a short video clip, and watch as the clip is transformed into a personalized flip book within 90 seconds. Walk away with a fun gift and proof positive that you were hard at work creating assets at the conference.
With days that begin with 8:30 a.m. technical sessions and end with late-night Birds-of-a-Feather meetings and Hands-on Labs, you'll be looking for handy spaces to sprawl and relax between activities. JavaOne hang spaces, designated areas in the Hotel Nikko San Francisco, Parc 55 Wyndham, and Hilton San Francisco Union Square, provide just that. Look for the signs, pull out a chair, and rest—or hang out with JavaOne peers.
Stretching along a full block of Mason Street between JavaOne hotels, the Mason Street Café creates an outdoor street fair for JavaOne attendees. Wander the various lounge and seating areas to find games, a Community Hub for meeting up with fellow Java developers and architects, refreshments, entertainment both accidental and intentional, and more. The Mason Street Café is open Monday and Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (Monday and Tuesday are sponsored by Juniper Networks), Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
