Webcast Series Explains How to Progress Beyond the Limits of E-Government
Public sector agencies throughout the world are moving beyond established e-government applications to new capabilities that can reduce operating costs, closely integrate constituent-facing and back-end systems, and eliminate divisions between departments that keep them from working smoothly together.
Known collectively as iGovernment, these innovations are the focus of a series of Webcasts Oracle launched late last year specifically for the public sector. Three additional presentations are scheduled for the first half of 2009 to provide details about key components of Oracle’s iGovernment framework.
In the first Webcast, Introducing Oracle iGovernment, senior Oracle executives examine the service-delivery and efficiency challenges governments face today, the limits of e-government, and how Oracle iGovernment addresses these long-standing problems.
Oracle iGovernment uses Oracle Fusion Middleware and such components as service-oriented architecture (SOA), an enterprise service bus, BPEL, and business process management technology to help agencies establish shared services and upgrade their operations without costly “rip and replace” projects.
The next installment, Modernizing the IT Infrastructure, set for February 4, will discuss the modernization value of SOA and other core technologies, such as portals, content management, and business intelligence.
On April 1, Increasing Efficiency and Transparency will describe how to implement shared services and demonstrate Oracle products of special interest to the public sector, including the user productivity kit, supplier portals, and solutions for tax and revenue and for governance, risk, and compliance.
Finally, Transforming Government Service Delivery on June 3 will demonstrate how agencies can use CRM technology, along with master data management, geographic information systems, and business intelligence, for constituent services, 311 applications, social services, and other areas.
