At France Telecom, Oracle Essbase Helps Drive Business Transformation

France Telecom has chosen Oracle Essbase as the analytic foundation for its Beyond Transformation program, which is driving performance management across the organization through continuous benchmarking of financial and operational indicators.

With revenues of more than 52 billion euros, France Telecom has rapidly evolved from a traditional network provider to become Europe's leading integrated telecommunications operator, delivering mainstream services such as voice, data, and wireless as well as on-demand content ranging from music to multimedia television.

In the wake of this transformation, the company also wanted to streamline its financial operations and processes to work in a "more global, more reliable, and more reactive way," says Stéphane Rougeot, group controller at France Telecom Group.

Oracle solutions, including Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise applications and Oracle Portal as well as Oracle Essbase, are key to this convergence and its drive to achieve industry benchmark goals, according to Rougeot.

Rapid Insight with Oracle Essbase
Oracle Essbase provides an environment for rapidly developing custom analytic and enterprise performance management applications. As a result, businesses can quickly model complex business scenarios, create business forecasts, and perform what-if analyses.

Oracle Essbase also supports extremely fast query response times for vast numbers of users, large data sets, and complex business models.

"Our focus on measuring and monitoring the progress of our group performance management approach helps us respond to ongoing change, using tools such as dashboards, benchmarks, and nonfinancial metrics in areas like corporate social responsibility," says Rougeot.

“In our quickly changing market, cultural change is what will keep us ahead of the pack,” he adds.
