New Image Processing Features in JD Edwards Could Slash Costs by 60%

At November's Oracle OpenWorld 2007 conference, attendees packed the session on the integration of Oracle Imaging and Process Management (IPM) with JD Edwards World and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne—evidence that midsize companies are increasingly seeking to get the same benefits from digitizing paper-based processes as their larger competitors.

According to one top analyst firm, image and process management can slash processing costs by up to 60 percent, Sancho Pinto, principal product manager, told audience members.

And now the integration of Oracle IPM and JD Edwards applications are bringing such economies within easy reach.

Integrating with JD Edwards
The integration of Oracle IPM and JD Edwards is just one part of Oracle's larger drive to knit together industry-leading applications with the industry's most comprehensive middleware. The integration will give customers three new approaches for integrating Oracle IPM.

The Backend Capture and Archive approach provides batch scanning and indexing upon process completion, with documents searchable by image indexes.

In the Front-End Capture and Data Entry approach, paper is scanned on receipt and then routed for data entry, eliminating costs associated with lost documents and transporting paper.

The Front-End Capture and Workflow approach automatically initiates business processes upon capture. It also automates processes by elements such as purchase order matching and vendor maintenance.

Pinto told session attendees that Oracle IPM typically drives down processing costs by a remarkable 40 percent for partial automation and another 20 percent for high-level automation.
