New Content Management Platform Wins Public and Private Sector Customers

In a move to control unstructured content and better integrate it into business processes, a host of organizations, both public and private, are opting for Oracle's new content management solutions.

Moving Beyond the G Drive: RAIT Financial Trust
RAIT Financial Trust is a major real estate investment trust (REIT), managing assets that range from bridge and mezzanine loans to preferred equity investments.

The company realized that its current enterprise content management (ECM) system—based on a shared G drive and user desktops—presented unacceptable risks. Besides operational inefficiencies and the potential for version control problems, the system left sensitive information vulnerable.

When RAIT looked for a new solution, Oracle Universal Content Management won out over the competition for several key reasons.

First, Oracle offered ease of use. For example, users can easily import content directly from both e-mails and Windows Explorer. In addition, Oracle's hot-pluggable solution was easy to integrate with DeltaView, enabling users to easily compare versions of Microsoft Word documents. Finally, the product included the necessary document management functionality out of the box, with little customization. That meant the solution could be up and running quickly and at minimal cost.

A Single Solution: Simcoe County
Located in a fast-growing region just north of Toronto, Simcoe County had outgrown its Web content management solution. Burdened with servicing 25 different Web sites, the system failed regularly.

In addition, Simcoe needed a new way to manage physical records warehoused in dispersed locations. The county decided the right solution was a content management platform that could electronically control the movement of records from one location to the next—seamlessly.

As it evaluated ECM products, Simcoe realized that Oracle offered greater value than a piecemeal solution. In a single product—Oracle Universal Content Management—the county got both multisite Web content management and the ability to leverage a single repository to manage the full content lifecycle using records management, without resorting to separate toolkits.
