Two New Integrated Products Provide Faster, Smarter Document Capture
In the wake of its January 2008 acquisition of Captovation, Oracle has launched two new products that dramatically speed the capture of paper and electronic documents—a key component of Oracle's comprehensive, integrated solution for transactional content management.
While Oracle Document Capture is designed to support high-volume production scanning from a central location, Oracle Distributed Document Capture provides a user-friendly Web interface that enables easy capture of images from remote locations.
Both products provide industry-standard images from document scanners, with automated indexing and archiving options, plus flexible implementation methods. Both are also fully integrated with Oracle Imaging and Process Management and Oracle Universal Content Management.
"These new products don't just help organizations reduce the costs of handling paper," explains Ken Peterka, Oracle vice president of capture software development. "They also make high volumes of information quickly available for mission-critical business transactions, from accounts payable and insurance claims to expense reports and human resources forms."
Oracle Document Capture
With support for both ISIS and Kofax Adrenaline/VirtualReScan (VRS), Oracle Document Capture provides unlimited scanning out of the box.
"Unlike some products that license by number of images, there are no volume restrictions on the number of scans," adds Peterka.
Other key benefits include key-from-image automation, bar code and optical character recognition, electronic document importing and conversion, and archiving that is both reliable and highly efficient.
Oracle Distributed Document Capture
Designed to be both easy to deploy and easy to operate, Oracle Distributed Document Capture provides browser-based scanning and indexing—all from remote locations. It can also be integrated with Oracle Document Capture to facilitate central indexing of remotely captured documents.
"By scanning documents at their place of origin, companies reduce document cycle time as well as the costs—and risk of loss—associated with shipping," says Peterka.
Oracle Distributed Document Capture requires minimal software installation, while streamlined indexing options reduce data entry. At the same time, the new product provides centralized administration, including the ability to audit remote activity.
