Business Intelligence Users Unite in New IOUG Special Interest Group
BIWA SIG, a vibrant and growing user group led by customers, partners, and Oracle experts, is dedicated to helping its members achieve success in deploying and using Oracle BIWA products—Oracle Database, warehousing, ETL, OLAP, data mining, statistical functions, text mining, BI query and reporting, and dashboards. BIWA not only shares best practices, but also looks at a variety of use cases and explores the broader possibilities of BI and analytics technologies.
“We want to share ways that BI and analytics can drive greater value from data for our businesses,” says Charlie Berger, Oracle’s senior director product management, data mining technologies. “We look at the ways warehousing, BI, and advanced analytics are used in retail finance and banking, public sector, insurance, manufacturing, healthcare and life sciences, and other novel use cases to understand the possibilities, and then we share the details of how to do it. There is so much functionality embedded in the database, we want to uncover it and share it directly with people.
“Sometimes people who are really interested in the BI and analytics capabilities of their Oracle technology have a hard time getting what they need at large conferences like OpenWorld,” says Berger. “Now they can join BIWA and become part of a focused community that is determined to get the utmost business value out of these powerful technologies.”
