Forrester Research Makes the Case for Database Encryption

In the first of a series of Webcasts on database security, Forrester Research analyst Jonathan Penn explains the importance of using encryption capabilities built into databases to protect data against security breaches. Unencrypted data, still common in many companies, is in constant threat of being compromised, which can lead to regulatory fines, diminished customer confidence, and financial loss.

The Webcast Oracle Database 11g Security: Transparent Encryption focuses on the benefits of transparent data encryption and on Oracle Advanced Security, an Oracle Database 11g option that offers a cost-effective complete, standards-based database encryption solution.

Protect Data. Protect the Business.

Oracle Advanced Security protects sensitive information in the Oracle Database. “It’s the best way to guard personally identifiable information, financial data, health records, credit card numbers, and other sensitive data throughout its lifecycle,” says Roxana Bradescu, Oracle senior director of product marketing and moderator of the Forrester Research Webcast. “You’re covered by network encryption, encrypted backups and exports, and it has built-in encryption key management with support for hardware security modules.” Oracle Advanced Security works inside Oracle Database and does not require any costly changes to existing applications.
