Latest Release of Oracle Enterprise Manager Drives Down Application Management Costs

The latest release of Oracle Enterprise Manager offers innovative solutions to drive down the cost managing business-critical applications across the entire Oracle software stack, from applications to middleware, database, Linux, and virtualization.

Launched in March 2009, Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 5 includes support for increased database administrator productivity, expanded management of Oracle Fusion Middleware, and support for the latest Siebel CRM release—plus management of the entire lifecycle of applications within a virtual infrastructure.

"Our customers are battling economic conditions that require a rigorous focus on delivering business operations and IT efficiencies at a lower cost,” said Richard Sarwal, Oracle senior vice president of product development.

“Oracle Enterprise Manager supports this endeavor through automated management of business workflows, processes, and services, as well as supporting the full Oracle software stack through its unique top-down application management approach, explained Sarwal.

Application Management: Support for Siebel 8.1.1 and More
With new certification with Siebel CRM 8.1.1, the latest release provides unique monitoring and diagnostics capabilities for Siebel business workflows, enabling higher availability and better throughput for business processes.

In addition, the new Management Pack for Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management helps significantly reduce administration costs. And the recently launched Oracle Real User Experience Insight Accelerators simplify the process of deploying real user monitoring for Oracle's Siebel CRM and Oracle E-Business Suite.

Enhanced Database Management and Productivity
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 5 also boosts database administrator productivity through a combination of increased automation, higher availability, and improved compliance.

For example, it includes real-time SQL monitoring and support for new Oracle Database 11g advisors, deployment automation for highly available grid computing infrastructure, and enhanced support for Oracle Database Vault.

It also provides automated database testing workflow, which integrates database software provisioning, data masking, database workload capture, and workload replay tasks.

From Fusion Middleware to Virtual Machines
With Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 5, Oracle WebLogic Server customers gain a unified application management solution, eliminating the need for multiple tools. Customers can now use the same familiar toolset in Oracle Enterprise Manager to accelerate adoption of Oracle WebLogic Server.

Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 5 also adds model-based application performance management through its Composite Application Monitor and Modeler for SOA, plus new management capabilities for Oracle Service Bus, Oracle Coherence, and Oracle Beehive, and enhancements for Oracle BPEL Process Manager.

In addition, the new Oracle VM Management Pack provides comprehensive management for the entire lifecycle of applications within a virtual infrastructure, including out-of-box monitoring and management, live migration support, and lifecycle automation with template-based deployment.
