New Configuration Management Tools Deliver Extreme Control

With a broad new set of configuration management tools, Oracle Enterprise Manager now offers customers extreme control, thanks to the unprecedented breadth and depth of its configuration management capabilities.

Designed to simplify management, improve service levels, and enforce compliance, the new capabilities solve some of the most challenging aspects of configuration management. New tools include

  • Expanded real-time change detection
  • Configuration lifecycle management across distributed environments
  • Industry-specific compliance dashboards

Extreme Challenge
“Configuration inconsistencies and unauthorized changes cause the most extreme challenges in IT. That’s why you need extreme control to overcome them,” says Sudip Datta, Oracle senior director of product management.

At the same time, the pressures faced by IT are only increasing. On one hand, IT teams are being asked to hold down spending. On the other hand, they are expected to improve service quality.

Meanwhile, compliance mandates are tightening. Yet business executives are demanding greater data center agility to respond rapidly to market conditions—increasing the complexity of compliance efforts.

Extreme Control
Powerful, automated configuration management can play a vital role in meeting these contradictory business imperatives.

“Rapid growth and change that define the modern data center quickly outgrow traditional configuration management tools,” says Datta. “But the breadth and depth of configuration management capabilities in Oracle Enterprise Manager change that equation.”

In terms of depth, Oracle offers prebuilt, out-of-the box templates for managing the entire Oracle technology stack, from packaged applications through middleware and database all the way down to the IT infrastructure.

At the same time, Oracle provides a broad set of capabilities for configuration management in heterogeneous IT environments. Oracle Enterprise Manager includes more than 100 out-of-the box templates, including more than 70 dedicated to non-Oracle products.

“Oracle Enterprise Manager's new configuration management solution offers broad capabilities for customer IT configuration management, plus unmatched depth for Oracle’s entire enterprise software stack, helping customers to increase operating efficiencies while improving service levels and reducing management costs." says Datta.
