Junior Achievement's JA–Titan business simulation gives young people an effective and entertaining way to learn about the world of business. With help from Oracle, the program is becoming available to students all over the world, including Europe, and gives children the opportunity to experience working in a global environment.

Oracle ThinkQuest and Think.com Launched in Malta
The Maltese government has announced that the international ThinkQuest competition is now open to schools and students in Malta. The Maltese Ministry for Investment, Industry and Information Technology (MIIIT) has collaborated closely with the Department of Technology in Education and the Oracle Education Foundation to ensure that the competition runs smoothly.

EU Launches Initiative to Combat Digital Illiteracy
Skills and competencies related to information and communications technology (e-skills) are now essential for living, working, and participating in the 21st century knowledge society. E-skills are also vital to Europe's ability to innovate and compete in a global economy. In this article, Pieter Bensch, vice president for Oracle University in EMEA, talks about a new EU initiative to increase and develop e-skills throughout the European community and explains why Oracle has joined other industry leaders to found a new industry alliance dedicated to fostering and promoting e-skills in the region.

Challengers' first Business and Improvements of Life Foresight workshop brought together executives from some of the Europe's leading scientific organisations and technology companies to discuss and define the benefits and challenges associated with Grid computing. Oracle offered its expertise in Grid computing at the meeting, which will help define the funding priorities for the EU Seventh Framework Programme.

CERN's New Particle Accelerator Experiments Supported by Oracle Technology
CERN, the world's largest particle physics laboratory, is preparing for the full deployment of the Large Hadron Collider in May. The experiments to be conducted by this new particle accelerator will make unprecedented computational demands on CERN's database systems. Collaboration with Oracle is allowing the laboratory to address these issues.
