Focus Turns to Post-Recession Opportunities at Financial Services Leadership Summit

Now that the worst of the "Great Recession" appears to be over, financial services companies from around the world met at Oracle's Global Financial Services Leadership Summit to discuss the growth challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the coming year. Under the theme "Innovation: From Survival to Growth," the Leadership Summit took place in September in Hong Kong, in conjunction with Sibos 2009.

A series of presentations, including a keynote by Richard Jackson, president of China’s Ping An Bank, explored how growth for financial institutions will be defined differently in the post-crisis years, as banks vie for sustainable risk-balanced growth in more highly regulated environments.

Rajesh Hukku, senior vice president of Oracle Financial Services, discussed Oracle's strategies, its commitment to innovation, and the latest SIBOS 2009 product announcements.

David Potterton, vice president of global research for analyst firm IDC, presented "Financial Services: Where Do We Go from Here?", an exploration of important financial services trends and the opportunities they present.

In addition, a special Oracle Innovation Showcase included case studies of two innovative banks that are using Oracle to distinguish themselves with mobile and Web 2.0 technologies.
