300 New Features Help Oracle Business Intelligence Deliver Universal Enterprise Intelligence
With Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition 10g Release 3, Oracle is making good on the promise of universal business intelligence (BI). The more than 300 new features and enhancements in this release include improved visualization and access to information from virtually any medium, deeper integration with Oracle Applications, Oracle Database, and Oracle Fusion Middleware, and broader hot-pluggable support for third-party applications and data sources.
The result: businesses can drive better decision-making across the enterprise by distilling all kinds of information into user-friendly formats, then delivering it into the right hands at the right time.
"Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition enables the delivery of reporting and analysis in Oracle, non-Oracle, or heterogeneous environments," says Henry Morris, group vice president and general manager of IDC's Integration, Development, and Application Strategies group. "With roots in the Siebel analytics technology acquired a year ago, Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition incorporates Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher to offer customers a comprehensive reporting and BI toolset at a competitive price."
Better Usability, Better Business Decisions
New features in Oracle Business Intelligence Suite 10g Release 3 help organizations deliver intelligence that is more easily accessible and more relevant, so BI can actually improve business results rather than just provide postmortem analysis. For example, this release enables organizations to embed BI portlets into any JSR-168 compliant portal, including Oracle Portal, helping to drive business intelligence to any user across the enterprise.
In addition, the new release delivers sophisticated, pixel-perfect reporting and publishing capabilities via Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher, a single solution for all document output needs, including financial reports, government forms, shipping labels, invoices, and more. Rather than relying on a proprietary report design tool, the product enables report builders to format reports using familiar applications such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, or Excel.
Integration with Oracle Products Increases Capabilities, Lowers Costs
Many traditional BI tools run in a vacuum, separate from other key business applications, but Oracle extends the value of BI while lowering total cost and complexity through extensive preintegration of Oracle Business Intelligence Suite with Oracle Applications, Oracle Database, and Oracle Fusion Middleware.
This release includes integration with the OLAP option of Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition, providing access to these powerful embedded calculation capabilities for improved end-user performance. Deeper integration with Oracle Fusion Middleware provides enhanced authentication and security capabilities and enables service-oriented architecture (SOA) business processes defined with Oracle BPEL Process Manager to incorporate multiple modes of analytics-driven workflow. The result is unified business intelligence across your application portfolio—including Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle's PeopleSoft, Oracle's Siebel, and even SAP.
Broader Hot-Pluggable Support
Built on open standards, Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition fits into any IT architecture to support existing applications, data sources, end-user tools, and security models. It supports simultaneous intelligence across relational, multidimensional, XML, and flat file data sources as well as third-party data sources and infrastructure products, including the latest releases of IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, NCR Teradata, and SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW).
