Start Your Diagnostic Engine with Groundbreaking New Java Tool

Monitoring live Java applications and diagnosing problems can be painful. As an application administrator, what can you do? You can’t shut down the app, you won’t accept performance degradation, and you don’t have a desire to know the ins and out of the application. All you want is deep diagnostics to help you prevent problems or quickly fix the ones you can’t prevent.

Oracle Application Diagnostics for Java (AD4J) is Oracle Enterprise Manager’s new, groundbreaking Java application monitoring solution. It monitors and diagnoses performance problems in production Java applications with minimal impact on performance and availability. It works seamlessly with your Oracle Fusion Middleware environment as well as other Java-based middleware.

Unlike most Java performance management tools that use bytecode instrumentation, AD4J has an innovative diagnostics engine that introduces less than 1 percent performance overhead on production applications and does not require a deep understanding of the application logic. It has a hot-pluggable architecture that enables the diagnostics engine to be deployed in heterogeneous middleware environments, without shutting down the application server.

What about cross-tier performance issues? With AD4J, administrators have powerful diagnostic capabilities to trace in-flight transactions and correlate user request activities in the Java application to corresponding activity in the Oracle database. Similarly, database administrators can quickly identify Java applications and specific Java threads associated with long-running SQL in the Oracle database. This cross-tier diagnostics helps accelerate problem resolution by identifying resource bottlenecks across tiers.
