Middleware Checklist: 10 Must-See Events at Oracle OpenWorld 2009

Oracle OpenWorld 2009 offers one of the biggest lineups ever for IT managers, business executives, architects and developers interested in the latest middleware innovations, including the new Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g. The events will cover everything from demos of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g in action to keynote addresses by Oracle executives, in-depth “power” sessions, and unique hands-on middleware labs.

Here are the top ten must-see events and resources to plug into your middleware schedule:

1. Thomas Kurian’s Keynote: Innovation Across the Stack
When: Tuesday, Oct 13 at 8:30 a.m.
Thomas Kurian, Executive Vice President, Product Development, Oracle, explores how hardware and software technologies are converging, creating new opportunities for Oracle to deliver fundamental and integrated innovations across its database, middleware, and business applications.

2. Hasan Rizvi’s General Session: The Foundation for Innovation—Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g and the Agile, Intelligent Enterprise
When: Monday, Oct 12 at 2:30 p.m. 
Hasan Rizvi, Oracle Senior Vice President, Oracle Fusion Middleware, discusses how SOA, enterprise content management, business intelligence, application grids and other transformational middleware technologies provide the foundation for customer-driven innovation.

3. Hands on Labs – Extend Your Applications with Middleware
When: Sunday through Thursday, Oct. 11-15
These unique labs offer self-paced, practical learning sessions for getting the most from Oracle Fusion Middleware. Learn from the experts how to extend, develop, and secure your applications, optimize processes, and provide deeper business insight. Highlights include:

4. In-Depth Sessions in the Middleware Stream
When: Sunday through Thursday, Oct. 11-15
Scores of sessions explore Oracle Fusion Middleware and offer best practices for implementations. New this year: 30-minute Power Sessions that present concise “drill downs” into specific middleware issues.

5. Up-Close Product Demonstrations in the DEMOgrounds
When: Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 12-14
Oracle experts will lead dozens of interactive product demonstrations of Oracle middleware technologies and offer attendees hands-on experience. Explore demos for Oracle WebCenter Suite 11g, Oracle WebLogic Suite 11g, Fusion Middleware for Applications, and other middleware technologies.

6. For Developers Only: Oracle Develop
When: Sunday through Tuesday, Oct. 11-13
This is the premier developer program at Oracle OpenWorld 2009. Hone your skills with technical sessions on Java, .NET, XML, SCA, PL/SQL, Ajax, PHP, Groovy on Rails, and more. New this year are special demo stations where you can roll up your sleeves for hands-on experience with the latest development technologies.

7. Unwind in the Middleware Lounge
When: Monday through Thursday, Oct. 12-15
Located in the San Francisco Marriott the Middleware Lounge offers a chance to recharge, relax, and network with others who have an interest in middleware.

8. OpenWorld for Architects
When: Sunday through Thursday, Oct. 11-15
Check out this special at-a-glance guide for all things architect at OpenWorld 2009. Don’t miss the in-the-trenches discussions, informative presentations and other sessions with a focus on middleware issues and technologies for architects.

9. Super Sunday: Oracle Users Forum
When: Sunday, Oct. 11
