Oracle's Human Capital Institute Tour Touts Benefits of Stronger HR/IT Ties

As part of an eight-city tour that examined the ties between IT and human resources, an HCM expert with the Human Capital Institute says organizations across the country are increasingly mining talent management technology for strategic business benefits, and stressed that talent management software can “build a bridge among HR, IT, and other departments.

"Though often initiated from different needs or goals, the thread to success lies in the collaboration of talent management and information technology,” says Andy Kriz, director of Human Capital Institute's Talent Leadership Community. “It is through this collaboration in design and implementation that processes align with strategy, resulting in real data to drive business decisions at every level."

HCM executives from commercial enterprises participated in presentations and panel discussions, which detailed best practices and techniques for using performance metrics and analytics technology for more effective HCM operations.

Along with Oracle’s Human Capital Management experts, also participating in the tour was CedarCrestone Inc., an Oracle applications and technology consulting partner. CedarCrestone presented highlights of their 2008-2009 HR Systems Survey.

From Seattle to Miami, Dallas, and Philadelphia the collaboration of IT and HCM is “a huge emerging topic," says Kriz, who also served as a tour panelist. “HR and IT are making the case for investments in talent management solutions.”

Attendees agreed. “The partnership of HR and IT is critical to the future of talent management in large organizations,” said one audience member at the Oct. 29 Dallas conference. Saying that HCM is “finally” moving into the limelight, another attendee added: “The biggest value of a company can now be realized and capitalized.”
