New Study Documents R12 Upgrade Advantages

Culminating a drive to install a more sophisticated and easier-to-use human resource management system across 23 agencies, the Scottish government is seeing a number of efficiency benefits with its implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12, according to a new analysis just released by the technology researcher Ovum Consulting.

In addition to better managing its staff, the Scottish government is experiencing greater user acceptance of the new application compared with previous HRMS programs. Ovum attributes the higher adoption rate to R12’s focus on task-based interfaces that support common workflows.

The main driver for the government’s R12 implementation was the application’s HR modules, in part because they integrate with a number of other core applications, including the payroll system, Ovum says.

Originally, the government planned to install Oracle E-Business Release 11.5.10. It moved to R12 after the IT staff completed the 11.5.10 project in only three weeks. Officials determined the government would benefit from R12’s technical innovations without substantially increasing the project’s risk, Ovum says.

As a result, the government now is seeing a reduction in the number of forms staff members require for HR tasks, which simplifies operations. The improved look and feel of the iRecruitment module is also increasing user acceptance of the new program, Ovum concludes.
