Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS 12.1 Flexes Talent Management Muscle
Expanded talent- and performance-management capabilities now shipping in the new 12.1 version of Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS address a critical HR challenge during tough economic times: how to retain and nurture top performers.
To do that, a new Talent Profile feature provides dashboards that give HR staff and department managers a complete view of each employee, including professional skills, career aspirations, compensation history, and appraisal results.
A department manager might compare two direct reports with side-by-side profiles to determine changes in compensation in one person or identify skill gaps in another,” says Anand Subbaraman, Oracle’s director of E-Business Suite HRMS strategy.
The 12.1 release also expands the iRecruitment home page, a portal for HR recruiters, hiring managers, and the applicants themselves.
Portal dashboards now provide daily summaries of action items, such as existing vacancies, referrals, rundowns of scheduled and completed interviews, logs of communications between recruiters and prospects, and pending job offers. “Using the dashboards, recruiters and hiring managers can view their recruitment progress without having to perform multiple searches” within the HRMS application, Subbaraman explains.
“Prospective candidates can also log into the module to communicate with the hiring team, and existing employees can use the page for posting referrals for open positions,” he adds.
A third HRMS enhancement in version 12.1 offers what Subbaraman calls “line-of-sight performance management.” This analysis capability merges personnel information with corporate goals to show individuals and their managers how a staff member’s objectives mesh with larger corporate objectives. For example, a salesperson can see how his or her success in closing deals helps the department achieve its revenue goals.
“Because it shows that each employee’s contributions are meaningful, line-of-sight management is a particularly good strategy for keeping people fully engaged with the organization,” Subbaraman says. Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS 12.1 became generally available to customers on May 5, 2009.
