New 'Top Manufacturer' Crowned

General Dynamics, an international developer of aerospace, marine, combat, and IT systems, received top honors as Progressive Manufacturer of the Year at the 2008 Progressive Manufacturing Summit & Awards created by Managing Automation magazine.

The annual awards for senior technology and business managers recognize the world's top 50 manufacturers for projects that exhibit outstanding performance in supply networks, leadership, innovation, operational excellence, and four other categories.

General Dynamics identified Oracle as a core technology partner after receiving the highest honor at this year's summit in Las Vegas in June.

Seven other 2008 award winners also credited Oracle for helping them achieve their Top 50 accomplishments. They consist of Batesville Casket Co., a winner for four separate projects; Emerson Electric, named a high achiever in the Business Model category; GED Integrated Solutions; Grote Industries; Itron Inc.; Sundaram-Clayton Limited; and Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd.
