On Demand Customers Reduce Complexity and Downtime with Oracle VM

Scalability. Reliability. Availability. Increased costs. As the volume of information in data centers continues to grow, IT professionals are faced with countless challenges. To address these challenges, Oracle is introducing server virtualization within the Oracle On Demand Managed Services Grid with Oracle VM. This new offering fully supports both Oracle and non-Oracle applications and provides scalable, low-cost server virtualization that’s three times more efficient than competitive products.

Server virtualization emulates the physical presence of a server so that more than one server can be hosted on a single computer. With Oracle VM, On Demand customers benefit from simplified solutions and reduced downtime, and gain a highly available and serviceable architecture.

The complexity associated with managing additional servers can be reduced or even eliminated altogether with virtualization. Fewer physical servers require restarting, which in turn reduces the overall downtime when outages occur. As virtualization evolves, it may be possible to reduce, or in some cases eliminate, the downtime required to service customers.

With virtualization, Oracle can better optimize Oracle On Demand customer's configurations, more fully harness server capabilities, maintain operational enhancements deployed over the past several years, and achieve significant savings in terms of space, power, and cooling.
