Oracle Beehive On Demand Now Delivered as Software-as-a-Service
Oracle On Demand is now offering Oracle Beehive On Demand—the industry's only complete and open platform for secure communications and integrated collaboration—as software-as-a-service (SaaS).
Designed to help organizations secure communications and add collaboration into business processes, Oracle Beehive integrates team workspaces, calendars, instant messaging, and e-mail into a unified object model.
By offering Oracle Beehive as software as a service, organizations can pay one predictable price, just $15 per user per month for the software, support, hosting, and software management.
In addition, each customer gains a dedicated environment, ensuring maximum privacy and security while also facilitating integration with other on-premises and on demand applications. Customers also leverage Oracle’s SAS 70 audited operations to meet their own compliance requirements.
“In these difficult economic times, this new offering enables customers to conserve capital and benefit from predictable, competitive pricing—paying only for what they use while still making the necessary improvements to their enterprise collaboration infrastructure," says Marc Schwarz, senior vice president, Oracle On Demand.
Inside the Beehive
Traditionally, collaboration solutions have consisted of disparate tools that are deployed and managed separately, making security management a serious challenge.
By contrast, Oracle Beehive is built on a unified object model and leverages the security capabilities native to the Oracle Database, resulting in a centralized, secure, and auditable collaboration platform. Oracle Beehive also helps organizations reduce the cost and complexity of regulatory compliance and legal discovery.
The cross-platform, open standards-based architecture of Oracle Beehive supports familiar clients like Microsoft Outlook and can coexist with Microsoft Exchange. It is also designed to operate with existing infrastructures such LDAP directories and voice-mail systems.
“Oracle Beehive is about to revolutionize the way in which we collaborate and make a lot of the tasks that we take for granted, yet appear to be cumbersome, a lot easier,” said Salim Ansari, head of IT support at the European Space Agency.
