Catch ‘Flu,’ Now Playing at a Screen Near You

An unfolding influenza pandemic requires an all-hands-on-deck response from a wide variety of government, public health, and law enforcement officials. But what kind of communications and IT infrastructure can coordinate these disparate jurisdictions so they can successfully respond to a growing public-safety emergency?

The answer is clear for viewers of Flu, a new Oracle movie that dramatizes just such a response and allows viewers to drill down to see the necessary technologies in action.

On the surface, Flu looks like a shorter version of a feature inspired by popular commercial productions like 24 and ER. But behind the story line and subtle humor is a multimedia depiction of the enterprise technologies that allow public officials to gather, analyze, and act on real-time information.

Flu will be part of a series of productions that will examine global public sector issues, says Peter Doolan, vice president of Oracle’s Public Sector solutions and a producer of Flu. “We’ll focus on issues germane to government to show how citizens will be able to interact efficiently with governments around the world,” he adds.
