New Software Offers Relief for Social Services Agencies

Government agencies around the world have new help for addressing the challenge of delivering social services fairly and effectively to their constituents.

Oracle’s new Policy Automation for Social Services provides a key component in the company’s first end-to-end solution for automating entitlement program administration. The new software includes policy modeling and automation engines to help administrators evaluate an applicant’s eligibility and then to efficiently deliver the appropriate services to authorized recipients.

Additional components in the larger solution include Oracle’s ERP and Siebel CRM applications, which address case management.

“Changing citizen demographics, budget constraints, and complex regulations make it more difficult than ever for government agencies to process entitlement applications,” says Dominic O’Hanlon, Oracle senior vice president and general manager.

A modeling component in Policy Automation offers debugging, regression testing, and analysis capabilities to help administrators understand the impact of policy changes. The policy automation module then uses these rules to help organizations process applications.

“Although new for social services agencies, these technologies have been widely used in financial services and other highly regulated industries to address rapidly changing policies,” O’Hanlon adds.
