Oracle Retail Workspace Drives Actionable Insight from Boardroom to Stockroom
To increase productivity and accelerate profitable decision-making across the retail value chain, Oracle's new Retail Workspace—a key element in the June 2008 launch of Oracle Retail Release 13—provides single sign-on, single launch access to Oracle Retail applications, operational and analytical reports, and role-based dashboards.
In addition, Oracle has implemented a common UI across Retail Release 13 applications, providing a more consistent—and therefore more productive—user experience.
Creating a Centralized Retail Workspace
"By creating a single, role-based retail hub, Oracle Retail Workspace doesn't just increase productivity, it drives both faster resolution of issues and more nimble response to profitable retail opportunities," says Dave Boyce, vice president of product strategy, Oracle Retail.
Together, single sign-on and single launch give users immediate access to most Oracle Retail applications, reports, and reporting tools. No more scrambling to remember multiple passwords or application locations.
Once users sign in, role-based dashboards provide timely, relevant information—and the ability to act on insights immediately. Dashboards can include Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) reports for operational information, Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition (BIEE) reports for analytical information, RSS feeds, URL-based information, JSR 168-compliant portlets, and Oracle Application Development Framework ADF code.
By creating a single, user-friendly hub, Oracle Retail Workspace also increases user satisfaction and adoption rates, helping maximize return on investment in Oracle Retail solutions. And because users don't have to resort to writing down multiple passwords, Oracle Retail Workspace even helps reduce security risks.
"Oracle Retail Workspace represents a significant milestone in user experience integration that will continue to evolve to include emerging Web 2.0 capabilities," says Boyce.
