Apparel Magazine Names Britain’s New Look a Top Innovator for Oracle SOA Deployment

Apparel magazine has named leading British fashion retailer New Look a "2009 Top Innovator" on the strength of its implementation of Oracle SOA Suite.

"As one of the first retailers globally to deploy SOA to achieve process excellence, New Look has championed a business-led approach, in contrast to companies that adopt a technology or integration approach," according to Apparel magazine in an annual report that honors "key visionary firms shaping the industry."

So far, service-oriented architecture (SOA)-based markdown and purchase order projects have produced real-time savings for New Look, according to the report. In addition, New Look has achieved “considerable strategic benefits” from the integration and expansion of new channels and markets.

"Investing early in this emerging technology has created real value," confirms Carl McPhail, New Look's CEO. "Oracle SOA Suite has enabled us to focus on processes and the way we work, stripping significant non value effort from the buying and merchandising teams."

"More importantly," adds McPhail, "SOA has helped us create a flexible platform supporting our strategic expansion."
