In Wake of AVT Acquisition, Oracle Launches Oracle Retail Macro Space Management

In the wake of Oracle's September, 2008 acquisition of Advanced Visual Technology Ltd. (AVT), Oracle has launched two new products — Oracle Retail Macro Space Management and Oracle Retail In-Store Space Collaboration — to help retailers maximize the value of their retail store space.

By integrating AVT's 3D macro space solutions with its comprehensive application suite, Oracle Retail is able to offer a comprehensive space management solution that links store-specific plans to upstream and downstream planning and execution systems.

"Adding AVT to our portfolio of retail applications will help enable retailers to gain rapid and profitable ROI from every inch of store space and help Oracle further realize its vision for insight-driven retailing," says Duncan Angove, general manager and senior vice president, Oracle Retail.

Oracle Retail Macro Space Management
As individual stores strive to achieve localization of corporate-level planning, one-size-fits-all planograms have limited value and can lead to everything from stock-outs to adjacencies that are not complementary.

With Oracle Retail Macro Space Management, retailers can visually develop store prototypes, incorporate merchandising changes, and efficiently manage floor plans, fixturing, and planograms — all in a three-dimensional, walk-through environment.

Features include:

  • Wired or wireless communication between head office, stores, and vendors
  • Access to centralized plans and data
  • Views of pending changes, inquiries, and workflow
  • Insight into performance analysis
  • Store-specific fixturing and planogram maintenance
  • Display and merchandising change management
  • In-store capture of confirmed store-level fixture and merchandise changes

Oracle Retail In-Store Space Collaboration
To complement Oracle Retail Macro Space Management, Oracle Retail has also launched Oracle Retail In-Store Space Collaboration. A Web-based solution, it enables store-level personnel and vendor partners to collaboratively manage the merchandising environment — from floor plan design to planogram maintenance.

As a result, corporate offices gain visibility into actual store-level execution for improved compliance while also responding to local market conditions and input from both partner vendors and individual stores.
