Thirty-Eight New Accelerate Solutions Deliver Deep Industry Expertise to Midsize Companies
This summer Oracle is rolling out 38 new Accelerate solutions that unite world-class software with the region-specific industry expertise of Oracle's partners. The result: midsize companieses up and running on Oracle solutions with unprecedented speed.
Ranging from Indonesian food and beverage to U.S. media and entertainment, the solutions extend the value of Oracle Business Accelerators—more than 1,000 preconfigured, industry-specific solutions — by connecting customers with implementation partners that have intimate knowledge of specific markets and industry segments.
"Traditionally, midsize companies suffer through an enterprise software sales cycle trying to determine what they need to run their business. With Accelerate, they no longer have to connect the dots themselves. On Day One, the Oracle partner shows up with a solution that is tailored to their business," says Matthew Kaminski, senior director, Oracle's SMB Global Business Unit.
SMB Dilemma: High Risk, Low Reward
With razor-thin IT staffs and limited budgets, midsize companies simply cannot afford lengthy implementations. In fact, midsize companies typically need to achieve return on investment within 12 months to make implementations worthwhile. That requires cycles measured in weeks, not fiscal quarters.
Given such pressures, steep learning curves are not an option. As a result, midsize companies have typically had to settle for "dumbed-down" versions of enterprise solutions. However, that too can be an expensive compromise.
"Midsize companies often find they have to rip out watered-down solutions and begin all over again as they grow and face new business realities," says Tony Kender, senior vice president, Oracle's SMB Global Business Unit.
Experience Changes the Equation
By connecting customers with resellers and implementation partners that understand their business intimately, Oracle Accelerate changes the equation.
"One of our implementation partners told me recently that by combining Oracle Business Accelerators with their industry-segment expertise, they literally had a system ready for transaction processing in less than a week," Kender says.
It makes sense that Oracle has been able to achieve such results. First, it draws on its own experience working with more than 190,000 SMB customers—including 19,000 application customers.
Add to that what Kender calls "a truly remarkable partner ecosystem," representing 70 industry verticals, every region of the world, and all four of Oracle's product lines—Oracle, JD Edwards, Siebel, and PeopleSoft.
"We just did an analyst's tour, and Oracle Accelerate was received very favorably," says Kender. "In fact, the thing we heard most was, 'You have a great solution here and a large SMB customer base. You just need to get the word out.'"
