Oracle Finds New Ways to Reach Out to Growing Companies

From podcasting and blogging to the formation of long-term strategy, Oracle has launched a series of initiatives to foster deeper, more-productive dialogue with growing companies.

“It’s vital that we communicate with these businesses, learn about their concerns and business needs, and help them share successful solutions with both us and with each other,” says Ron Berry, director of applications strategy for Oracle Accelerate.

Blogging: New Forum for Growing Businesses
The new forum for fast-growing businesses (the
Midsize Companies Forum section on the new OTN Forums home page) provides a Web 2.0 platform that enables Oracle and its customers and partners to interact with one another and communicate value-added information with unprecedented speed.

This open forum not only enables Oracle to provide information to customers, but also enables customers to ask questions and provide input directly to Oracle; for example, requesting desired product features or packaging options.

Perhaps even more important is the potential for peer-to-peer communication. “It’s a place where business people can share best practices and success stories or ask peers to answer questions and provide guidance,” says Berry.

Looking Ahead: Oracle Accelerate Strategy Council
This year, Oracle also launched the Oracle Accelerate Strategy Council, which is charged with the vital task of formulating, reviewing and validating requirements for Oracle products and services.

Representing a cross-section of industries and countries that are strategically important to Oracle, members are senior executives who are deeply involved in establishing and implementing the long-term visions for functions and solutions.

“This council will help us understand our customers’ unique challenges, prioritize Oracle’s investments, and guide us through decisions as we create and bring to market compelling solutions,” says Berry.

"We aren't focusing on current functionality or quick fixes, but on advancing our application strategy to address emerging trends and business challenges that midsize companies envision coming down the pike in years to come," adds Berry.

Peer-to-Peer Knowledge Transfer: Customer Café
Finally, Oracle is launching Customer Café, a series of podcasts that provide “real talk with real customers in an informal, cafélike environment,” says Kim O’Connor, director of business development for Oracle Accelerate.

The podcasts enable many fast-growing businesses with limited budgets to share with each other the successes they’ve achieved using Oracle products and services—plus the industry-specific best practices that have made it possible.

The talks, which last about 10 minutes and will be available as podcasts on Oracle.com, cover industry-specific business challenges, how Oracle solutions helped meet those challenges, and details of results achieved.
