Two thirds of SAP customers around the world, in every industry, choose to run their applications on Oracle databases. A report by Ovum Summit (formerly Summit Strategies) shows that a growing number of these customers are choosing to run their application on Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC).
In its report, SAP Customers Depend on Oracle Real Application Clusters for High Availability and Scalability, Ovum Summit explores the history of the Oracle and SAP relationship and follows three SAP customers, Italy's Pirelli Group, Germany's Reno Fashion and Shoes, and Spain's Gas Natural, as they enhance their SAP applications with Oracle RAC.
"More than 8,400 enterprise customers have deployed RAC environments in production, and a wide range of independent software vendors – SAP included, of course – have validated their applications for Oracle RAC," says the report. "Oracle RAC has already become the clustering technology of choice for a growing number of SAP's customers."
