| EXALOGIC THE WEBLOGIC MACHINE FULLY SUPPORTS ORACLE VM, COHERENCE AND VIRTUAL ASSEMBLY BUILDER |
During the OOW a new Exalogic feature Exabus – High Speed Network Virtualization has been launched. In the WebLogic side Oracle has announced, Oracle Traffic Director, which is my personal highlight.
Traffic Director is a Load balancer or Local traffic manager on the application network layer with the following facts:
- Supports support SSL encryption.
- 40GBps InfiniBand connections instead of the 1GBps
- Virtual appliance (VA) running on Oracle VM Server
- SSL-offloading, caching and redirecting
- Tight integration with OHS and Apache

| DSS DEMO MEMO #239: UPGRADED DSS APPS GRID: COHERENCE 11g DEMOS NOW AVAILABLE! |
DSS is pleased to announce the availability of the latest release of Apps Grid: Coherence 11g Demos. The demos showcase clustering, load balancing, failover and active-active multi-master WAN capabilities of the Coherence Cache Server as well as an introduction to the Coherence Query Language, CohQL.
About Coherence
Coherence provides replicated and distributed (partitioned) data management and caching services on top of a reliable, highly scalable peer-to-peer clustering protocol. Coherence has no single points of failure; it automatically and transparently fails over and redistributes its clustered data management services when a server becomes inoperative or is disconnected from the network. When a new server is added, or when a failed server is restarted, it automatically joins the cluster and Coherence fails back services to it, transparently redistributing the cluster load. Coherence includes network-level fault tolerance features and transparent soft re-start capability to enable servers to self-heal.
Coherence Scalability and Failover:
- Scalability: In this demo, a second node joins an existing Coherence cache server that is already performing aggregation calculations on 100,000 records. The second node joins the cluster with no code required and after a short period of time, number of calculations p/s double, and query response time halves.
- Failover: If a cache server is killed, aggregation calculations continue without error, and prior performance resumes after a short rebalancing period.
Coherence Multi-Master WAN:
- Multi-Master WAN: This demo provides an example application, which represents a distributed auction application where near real-time applications concurrently read and raise bids on a finite set of items for sale. The Auction application showcases the power of using Coherence clusters and push replication functionality. With just a few hundred lines of application code a distributed active-active application can be written with simple Coherence NamedCache primitives. This demo also shows how a single application can use caches with different replication policies to solve various problems.

Coherence Cluster and Query:
Clustered Cache: In this demo, the clustered cache capabilities are demonstrated, including
creating a named cache, adding items into the cache, transparent failover and fail back.
- Coherence Query Language (CohQL): Continuing with the cache created in the first part of the demo, cache items are queried and modified using CohQL.
Software
The Apps Grid: Coherence 11g Demos systems are equipped with the following versions of Software
- Coherence 3.6
- JRockit JDK 1.6.0_22
- WebLogic WebTier (OHS) 11.1.1.4
- RAC Database 11.2.0.1.0
Demo Instructions Go to the DSS web site for Oracle Sales Consultants or Oracle Partners. The DSS Apps Grid: Coherence demos can be found in the Fusion Middleware - General section. Each demo launch pad includes a demo script with detailed instructions.
