Welcome from Jens Mortensen

Jens Mortensen, Vice President, Public Services, Oracle Europe, Middle East and Africa The tragic events that unfolded recently in New Orleans have highlighted the need for failsafe planning and execution in the event of natural or man-made disasters. Governments and inter-governmental agencies across Europe, the Middle East and Africa are continually stepping up their efforts to plan for, predict and prevent potential large-scale life-threatening incidents.

With our large technology footprint in national, regional and local government, Oracle is currently recruiting software vendor partners with outstanding solutions for all areas of national and international security management; from natural disasters to disease outbreaks, terrorism and crime, environmental threats and health risks.

IT to play a crucial role in national and international security

Information technology and communications (ITC) are set to play a crucial role in effective planning, prediction and prevention. Governments and agencies across Europe, the Middle East and Africa are ready to invest in highly secure, available and scalable solutions that allow them easily to share and analyse critical data and create plans that can be executed by multiple agencies without conflict, confusion or overlap.

Oracle Database is the world's most secure

Oracle Database and Oracle Fusion Middleware are world leaders in terms of data security, scalability and availability. Oracle has maintained a consistent focus on information security since it was founded 25 years ago, with the CIA as its first customer. Oracle Database has now passed 22 security evaluations, making it the world's most secure relational database management system, relied upon by governments, defence agencies and law enforcement organisations worldwide.

Not only can Oracle provide the secure, scalable, available and highly recoverable technology infrastructure to support security-critical ISV applications, but we can also offer ISVs the opportunity to resell complementary ERP applications from the Oracle E-Business Suite, alongside their own solutions.

Additional resale opportunities with Oracle Applications

For example, ISVs can resell our Human Resources applications, which give end-customers a single, accurate record of the resources and skills available, enabling them to find and contact people quickly in an emergency and to form teams to deal with a crisis. Oracle Learning Management System is a complete environment for online and classroom-based training, ensuring that a lot of people can be trained and tested for emergency and crisis situations, both quickly and cost-effectively.

Oracle also provides a fully-featured Collaboration Suite, enabling users to share information and plans in real-time, including geographical, map and other spatial data for customers using the Oracle Spatial option of Oracle Database.

We are already working with leading ISVs in the areas of national and international security and law and order. For example, in our Partner Profile, you can see how Geodan has created an Oracle-based wireless data solution for the Dutch police force.

Oracle is now looking to recruit vendors of local, national and international security and emergency response solutions to join the Oracle PartnerNetwork and participate in our mutually profitable go-to-market initiatives in this area.

Attend Oracle's security-focused partner event

On October 12th in Amsterdam, we are holding a special event for ISV partners to find out more about Oracle's information security strategy for the public sector. If you are interested in working with Oracle in this area, I strongly recommend that you attend this event to learn more about how we are approaching the market and working with independent software vendors in this space. Click here for more details.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about working with Oracle or becoming an Oracle partner, please don't hesitate to contact your local Oracle PartnerNetwork Interaction Center.

I look forward very much to working with you.
