ISVs praise Oracle OLAP

Leading ISVs and solution providers are showing strong support for Oracle Online Analytical Processing (OLAP). Oracle PartnerNetwork members such as AITG, arcplan, SolStonePlus and Vlamis are taking advantage of the embedded OLAP capabilities in Oracle Database 10g to deliver powerful, enterprise-class analytic solutions that help customers understand the factors that are driving their business.

OLAP is used to support advanced applications including demand planning and forecasting, product and customer profitability, sales and marketing analysis, and risk management to provide end-users with better insight into business operations and markets. Oracle OLAP, an option to Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition, is fully integrated into the database, enabling customers to reap the benefits of an industrial-strength calculation engine, faster query performance and superior availability, scalability, and security.

Because Oracle Database 10g integrates both OLAP and relational data, business users can benefit from access to a broader range of information faster, while IT departments can benefit from reduced costs and simplified management.

"ISVs are excited about the integrated, industrial-strength OLAP capabilities in Oracle Database," said Ray Roccaforte, vice president of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing at Oracle. "By exploiting the embedded OLAP capabilities in the Oracle Database engine, partners can quickly and easily build scalable analytic solutions that let their customers get better insight into business operations, to make smarter decisions -- faster. And, because our partners and their customers can leverage their existing investment and skills in Oracle, they reap the benefits of reduced development costs and faster time to market."

Companies across all industries and regions continue to implement OLAP software as part of their larger business intelligence strategies, fuelling market growth and building new opportunities for ISVs. AITG, arcplan, SolStonePlus and Vlamis are just a few of the many organisations relying on Oracle OLAP to help deliver advanced, high performance BI solutions.

Partners deliver cost-effective BI solutions with Oracle OLAP

AITG AG is a leading independent specialist business intelligence and data warehousing company. Its A3 WEBREPORTER product is a powerful plug-and-play Web-based application, which can be tailored quickly to a customer's individual needs. A3 WEBREPORTER uses Oracle OLAP to provide a robust solution.

"Oracle OLAP leads the way to integrated solutions that many of the existing customers have requested," said Andreas Spanner, business development manager at AITG AG. "Customers can rely on Oracle standards and the protection of their investments. We have proven this through the successful and fast migration to Oracle OLAP, providing customers with our powerful and cost-effective reporting and business performance management framework."

arcplan is a global company that provides solutions that maximise the value of information as a key corporate asset to drive business performance. It provides a versatile platform for the rapid development of tailor-made analytic applications across all major databases, applications and systems.

Its dynaSight rapid development environment allows users to create their own analytic applications, formatted and designed to their own specifications. This application can access multiple data sources, including Oracle OLAP, simultaneously. "Being able to use the analytic capabilities of Oracle OLAP for fast sophisticated calculations and the ability to combine the resulting data with other data sources in the end user interface, allows our customers to achieve a high level of analysis," said Andreas Kugelmeier, arcplan's vice president of product management.

SolStonePlus specialises in offering a complete portfolio of business intelligence and data warehousing services and solutions, and provides services encompassing implementation, development, project management, support, training and licence management, across all Oracle technologies. In addition to a number of successful Oracle OLAP implementations it has also integrated Oracle OLAP with its own Qubeview product to create a complete suite of tools for reporting and analysis.

"Oracle OLAP, by being an integral part of Oracle Database, not only offers tremendous scalability but also increased availability, resilience, and the security and easy maintenance that Oracle Database has to offer," said Robert Flaxman, director of business development, SolStonePlus. "The open SQL and Java APIs allow multiple tool access and a consistent interface. An Oracle OLAP implementation is an integrated, consistent solution which is accessible by many other tools, including our own Qubeview product, as well as Oracle's BI offerings such as Oracle Business Intelligence Beans and Oracle Discoverer."

Vlamis Software Solutions, Inc. (VSS) is a consulting services company providing business solutions to international and domestic clients based on Oracle technologies. It has assisted numerous customers with OLAP implementations. Implementing a BI solution has never been easier," said Dan Vlamis, president, VSS. "Oracle OLAP enables OLAP analysis to be done simply, out of the box. Development and rollout can be done extremely fast with complexities that used to be custom coded, now done by the tools themselves."
