On 14th June in an event hosted by Oracle president, Charles Phillips, the company unveiled new plans to help customers and partners more easily control, secure and manage large volumes of unstructured content.

Oracle Content Database and Oracle Records Database are both built on the award-winning Oracle Database 10g. This enables partners and customers to take advantage of their existing infrastructure and resources to cost-effectively manage enterprise-wide content such as Office documents, PDFs, document images and graphics. Oracle Content Database and Oracle Records Database deliver a complete solution for managing a wide range of diverse content and metadata in a single database. Because both products are built using open standards, they enable ISVs, SIs and end customers to utilise the power of web services and service oriented architectures (SOA) to deliver user-tailored content management functionality across the entire organisation.

"A well-designed content and records management solution can increase user productivity, address regulatory compliance concerns, reduce business risk and drive costs down," said Andy Mendelsohn, senior vice president of Database Server Technologies, Oracle. Pricing and Availability

Oracle Content Database and Oracle Records Database are options for Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition. Both products are expected to be available within 60 days and pricing will be announced at or prior to availability.
