Oracle Database Vault receives broad industry support from ISVs, SIs and service partners

Oracle has announced widespread industry support for its new database security product, Oracle Database Vault, through partnerships with independent software vendors (ISVs), global systems integrators (SIs), and service partners. This latest security product provides customers and partners with new, expansive security and compliance capabilities.

Together with members of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, Oracle will help customers enforce stronger security policies to mitigate insider threats and better meet a wide range of regulatory and privacy requirements by helping to ensure that administrators and users have the appropriate-level of access to sensitive information.

Oracle partners can now use Oracle Database Vault to tap into additional revenue generating opportunities associated with security and compliance mandates. According to a recent Goldman Sachs IT Spending Survey, security remains the top spending priority among CIOs. Gartner analysts indicate that software licence spending related to corporate governance is estimated to be in excess of $10 billion (€7.8bn) by 2009, growing 25.2 per cent annually.

Oracle Database Vault addresses what risk management consultants have long recognised as a serious compliance deficiency, by enabling organisations to establish and enforce preventive controls for accessing sensitive data and applications.

Global ISVs using the Oracle Database as the data repository for their applications can further extend the security benefits of the Oracle Database with Oracle Database Vault.

ISVs can easily leverage Oracle Database Vault with their existing applications to help save time and money, as well as increase the overall security of their existing applications by enforcing separation of duties for database administrators and IT staff; automating compliance reporting with embedded internal controls in the database-tier; and limiting access privileges to sensitive data based on when, where and how information is accessed.

SIs and service providers that incorporate Oracle Database Vault into their risk management practices will be well positioned for the growing market demand for solutions that help address new compliance requirements and minimise the security risks posed by users.

Industry leaders planning to use Oracle Database Vault as part of their consulting and risk management practices or easily embed it into their portfolios, include: BearingPoint, Protiviti, ArcSight, LogicalApps, Lumigent, Mantas, Tripwire and Vormetric.
