Overwhelming successes for Oracle EMEA partner events

Oracle organises numerous partner events across the EMEA region at which representatives from across Oracle are on hand to answer questions from ISVs and potential ISVs about partnering with Oracle.

At these events Oracle is able to outline how it can work together with its partners in the areas of sales, marketing and technology, provide inspiration and education in one location, and help grow businesses and help them enjoy greater sales and business success.

These events include: Oracle's free Technology Roadshows where partners can find out all they need to know about Oracle's technology stack and becoming an Oracle ISV partner; Oracle 'OPN' Days that advise how the resources available through the Oracle PartnerNetwork can best be used; technology introduction and adoption workshops; plus numerous representations at specialist fairs and exhibitions.

Below are three standout successes from the events schedule over the last two months:

International ISV OPN Days - Stuttgart, Monday 24th April 2006

The OPN day in Stuttgart represented another success for International ISV Partners. IFS AB and CCI Europe attended the two-day event in order to network and meet with Oracle executives.

CCI Europe delivers very advanced editorial and advertising sales systems to many of the biggest US newspapers. Torben Juul, VP of marketing at CCI Europe was very pleased by the meeting with Oracle VP Global Alliances & Channels, Doug Kennedy.

He said: "I felt it was a very constructive 'lunch', which set high expectations for the future. The meeting with Pascale Chatelain was also very useful, and I believe we might do some great marketing activities together."

Juul concluded: "I strongly recommend partners attend Oracle OPN Days, since it is a good way of networking into the Oracle organisation."

International ISV OPN Advisory Board - Istanbul, Tuesday 28th March 28th 2006

CCI Europe and IFS AB attended the partner advisory board in Istanbul, with both ISVs expressing some very positive feedback.

"The Advisory Board, consisting of a relatively small number of people, provides a good framework for an interactive meeting and sharing of experiences with Oracle partnership among the participants" said Ole Oerndrup - COO at CCI Europe.

"The Advisory Board Meeting is an opportunity to meet with Oracle top management and to learn about their view of a common feature. Hopefully the feedback from the Advisory Board can be an important input the development of the partnering model. As the technology is developing rapidly it is important to review existing business models and discover new opportunities. The Advisory Board seems to be a good forum for the information and discussions about the opportunities."

Oerndrup concluded: "The Advisory Board Meeting also showed, that it might be useful to have dedicated sessions for ISV's only as a part the Board Meeting. Hopefully that will be a part of future Oracle partner Advisory Board Meetings."

Amadeus World Horizon 2006 Worldwide Fair for Airlines

Oracle Alliances and Partners was represented at Amadeus Horizon Dubai with an Exhibition booth at the 'Technology Exchange' in order to promote the expansion of Oracle Product Sales via the company's European ISV, Amadeus GTD. This promotion included the current Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server coverage of the Amadeus Altea line for hosted Airline applications (Altea Plan Fly and Sell, and Altea Farequote). A booth was created to focus on Oracle Applications as hostable or installable complements to the Amadeus ALTEA Suite.

One major reason for choosing Dubai is the rapidly expanding airline and travel market in this region of the world. Despite the distant location, more than a hundred airlines attended the fair.

The central message given by Oracle at the Amadeus Horizon was: "Oracle Corporation is the world's largest enterprise software company. Oracle technology can be found in nearly every industry around the world and in the offices of 98 of the Fortune 100 companies. Oracle is the first software company to develop and deploy 100 percent internet-enabled enterprise software across its entire product line: database, business applications, and application development and decision support tools. Oracle is the world's leading supplier of software for information management, and the world's second largest independent software company. Oracle applications provide business information for effective decision-making, enable an adaptive enterprise for optimal responsiveness, and offer a superior total ownership experience that drives profitability. Oracle Applications is presented at the Dubai Horizon Fair 2006 with a particular focus on leading-edge solutions for the Airline Industry."

The Booth (set up next to the presentation hall) attracted a lot of visitors, with around 15 prospects identified as potential indirect expansion customers for Oracle products above and beyond the usage of Altéa. These were directed to Amadeus for further evaluation.

The main subject of presentations and discussions was the further use of GDS in a non-legacy system world. Speakers at the event included:

  • Terry Jones; founder of Travelocity.com and CIO of Sabre, Inc
  • Marc Cavaliere; Spirit Airlines vice president of sales and distribution
  • Christoph Ganswindt; Lufthansa senior vice president information management & CIO
  • Gregory Taylor; United Airlines SVP Planning
  • Abdul Wahab Teffaha; AACO Arab Air Carriers Organisation secretary general
