FAQ on Referral Initiative
What is the benefit of the Referral Initiative?
The Initiative provides partners who do not distribute Oracle program licenses, or who may not be contractually allowed to distribute certain products, a way to earn money working with Oracle. ISVs who prefer to let their customers select and purchase their own database can now earn a referral fee by referring the opportunity to Oracle. Similarly, partners who can distribute technology program licenses but not E-Business Suite program licenses can earn a referral fee by referring opportunities to Oracle. In addition, entities that are not Oracle partners may also be eligible to participate in the Oracle Referral Initiative.
What is the benefit to Oracle of the Referral Initiative?
The referring entity will have financial incentives to recommend Oracle to their customers that Oracle believes will bring incremental opportunities.
Do you have to be an Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) member to participate in the Referral Initiative?
No. Oracle's Referral Initiative is designed for OPN members, but also for non-partners. Non-partners must accept the Referral Initiative Terms for Participation for non-partners, which include the Open Market Model (OMM) policy, the Oracle Partner Code of Conduct, and Oracle's Privacy Policy.
How do you register a Referral Opportunity?
Partners register referrals using Oracle’s Global PRM application (OPN members can access information about registering opportunities in the Global PRM application here). Non-partners may submit referrals to Oracle here. Prior to submitting a referral, non-partners are encouraged to review the Oracle Referral Initiative Opportunity Guide, Program Brief and Tutorial found within the Oracle Referral Initiative Information Kit located here.
Can public tenders or solicitations be registered in the Referral Initiative?
Projects offered by a customer for public tender are not eligible for the Referral Initiative.
How does Oracle evaluate whether my Referral Opportunity is Net New?
Oracle has dedicated staff to evaluate Referral registrations. Upon receipt of a new Referral Registration (from an OPN member or a non-partner), the assigned staff will login to Oracle's internal applications to search for an existing opportunity in the customer account. If it is not in the internal application, and if the referral registration meets all the criteria of the OMM policy, the opportunity will be accepted, usually within 5 business days.
How long does it take to get paid?
Upon closure of the deal by Oracle, a letter of acknowledgment will be sent to you indicating the total value of the transaction and the proposed fee. You must sign and return this letter along with other required documents. Oracle will remit payment once the customer has paid their invoice, which may take 30-90 days from the date of end user customer payment to Oracle. |
