Oracle Universal Content Management 10g Release 3 New Features

New Features in Oracle Universal Content Management 10gR3 Boost Content Management Productivity
New features in Oracle Universal Content Management (UCM) 10gR3 promise to eliminate manual processes and speed key content management functionality.

  • UCM/IRM Integration
Oracle has advanced information protection by enabling Oracle Information Rights Management to automatically protect documents stored in an enterprise content management system. This integration:
    • Protects documents that users check in by transparently sealing them with Advanced Encryption Standard and RSA cryptography
    • Extends content management security to content outside the system – even if the content is emailed or distributed to external users
    • Allows administrators to control access by local and remote users at the individual and group level at any time
    • Provides this additional layer of protection without user intervention and does not restrict legitimate access to and searching of the encrypted information

With Oracle Information Rights Management you can:

    • Provide policy-based security and retention management on documents when they leave a repository
    • Allow, revoke, and log viewing, sharing, copying, or printing of documents
    • Revoke access at any time from a central permissions server
    • Use industry standard AES and RSA cryptography

  • Folios
Folios lets users create and work with groupings of items in natural and useful ways. Folios provides a number of new ways to assemble the groupings, including shopping baskets that enable users to "shop" the content server for items they need for a particular folio. Folios can also be rendered as a single document or in other formats for distribution, retention control, workflow, and viewing.
  • Site Studio Contribution Editor
The Contribution Editor of Site Studio enables users to create, edit, and maintain Web content. With this new release, users can perform these tasks with increased speed and efficiency. Common functions like approving, creating, and linking to content are easier to perform and, where appropriate, guided by wizards. Contributors can also be granted permissions to perform advanced functions like editing in source mode and sophisticated table editing. Other key enhancements in this editor release include a built-in accessibility checker, to help organizations create accessible Web sites. The new editor runs on Windows, Macintosh, and Linux platforms.
  • Web Form Editor
The new Web Form Editor is equipped with a built-in WYSIWYG utility for creating web forms, allowing users to create forms with little or no technical knowledge and serve a variety of process and content centric use cases. Additionally, the editor leverages existing UCM capabilities such as workflow to route, edit, and approve forms and versioning of forms and form submissions.

New Integrations!

  • BPEL Integration
The new BPEL integration offers two distinct types of workflows: Native UCM workflow and BPEL workflow. The Native UCM workflow provides an "Editorial style" workflow that is lightweight, easy to implement and manage, tightly integrated and content centric. The BPEL workflow allows users to manage "big picture" end-to-end business processes such as processes that run across systems.
  • Secure Enterprise Search Integration
The Secure Enterprise Search integration allows users to simultaneously search Oracle UCM, other ECM, file systems, web sites, BI systems, and more.
  • BI Publisher Integration
The BI Publisher integration enables published reports to be automatically checked into the content management system and the proper metadata applied.
  • AutoVue Integration
The AutoVue Integration enables viewing of over 400 file formats, and the annotation of those formats.
