PROFIT: What about Hyperion customers?
KURIAN: Every Hyperion customer must be reassured that Oracle will protect their existing investments. Each one of Hyperion's products falls under standard Oracle support practices. We are also going to invest aggressively in the Hyperion products, which will extend customers' current investments into new areas as we build out the product family. I think they will find they get more value from using Hyperion's products in combination with Oracle technology and applications. Equally important, they will continue to see us supporting heterogeneous environments, including SAP environments. Additionally, Oracle is going to invest heavily in the Hyperion-focused development, sales, services, and support organizations while retaining them intact organizationally.
PROFIT: What is the integration plan for the products?
KURIAN: We have a very clear road map. Our plan is to deliver to customers a single, integrated, comprehensive, best-of breed enterprise performance management system. In fact, at Hyperion's user conference in Orlando, in April, we showcased the three important aspects to our product integration plans. First, how we are going to integrate further Hyperion Financial Management applications with Oracle's ERP applications, such as PeopleSoft Financials and Oracle Financials to improve how information in Hyperion's planning, budgeting, and consolidation applications can be much more tightly linked with the information in these transaction systems. Second, we demonstrated how we are going to integrate Hyperion's BI foundation with Oracle's BI tools. For instance, we showed how a company could combine the use of Hyperion's OLAP engine, Essbase, with Oracle [Business Intelligence] Enterprise Edition, our analytic tools. We showed how we could build reports using Oracle's new reporting solution, Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher, and integrate that with Hyperion [System 9 BI+] Interactive Reporting. Third, we also highlighted how we will integrate Hyperion Financial Management applications with Oracle Business Intelligence Applications, enabling the planning solution to draw information from and correlate information with the operational analytic applications more quickly and easily.
By November, customers will find that a significant part of this integration of Hyperion products with Oracle technology and applications will have been completed—and they will be able to see the value they are going to get.
