Saving Time and Money from the Start
Terillium’s TIMM methodology contributed to the process of scoping G&W’s implementation by presenting the project team with a setup questionnaire, 600 detailed process scripts, and preconfigured industrial manufacturing-based business processes that allowed core team training in the JD Edwards software during the first week of the project. This early visibility to the configured software, already loaded with G&W’s business data, made it easier for team members to move the project quickly through the design and identify stages and tailor the software to G&W’s needs. Additionally, G&W managers can add, modify, and expand the entire footprint as the business scales and yet achieve fast results by selecting the industry-specific business transactions they need. When the G&W team members compared what they thought they needed with what was included in the processes modeled in TIMM, they discovered additional useful functionality that had not previously been scoped. And they were able to make substantial use of the processes as defined.
Pederson says that his team was able to “hit the ground running with about 20 percent of the scripts [for business process flows] included in TIMM. I consider that a significant advantage.” As a measure of how successful Terillium and Pederson’s team were at defining the scope of the project, Pederson notes, “We have enjoyed the very unique and pleasant position of being on schedule, within project scope, and within budget at all review points throughout the project.” Oracle Accelerate and TIMM have continued to deliver value to the project after initial design by allowing G&W to perform fully integrated testing with converted data on 80 percent of its business processes in ICRP I (Integrated Conference Room Pilot I) and 95 percent in ICRP II. Shane Eisenhauer, Terillium vice president, notes that they were able to assist G&W using the Oracle Accelerate solution at roughly a 30 percent reduction in cost and a 25 percent reduction in time compared to the time and expense of a traditional implementation.
