Associated Wholesalers, Inc. (AWI) is a retailer-owned cooperative that supplies a wide array of food and non-food products to independent grocers and convenience stores along the Eastern Seaboard from distribution centers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It distributes broadline grocery products, bakery goods, meat and dairy items, fresh produce, and frozen foods, as well as a full line of general merchandise products. Its White Rose Foods unit, acquired in 2006, serves supermarkets and grocers in the New York City area, as well as in New Jersey and New England. AWI also operates nine supermarkets through its Shurefine Markets subsidiary.
Associated Wholesaler's Inc. (AWI) is a food distributor serving 5,700 retailers in the eastern United States. It faced limitations of its Cobol on Mainframe order management system and needed a single robust, scalable and customizable application to be able to expand its business and increase sales, reduce operating costs and increase value to customers. Utilizing JDeveloper 10g, Application Server 10g and Web Services, AWI built a state-of-the-art service-oriented order management system utilizing Oracle's ADF Business Components. AWI completed their first enterprise BPEL process. This BPEL process replaces a manual one which covers their entire semi-annual trade show booking process.
