The Church Pension Group (CPG) consists of the Church Pension Fund, founded in 1914, and its affiliates, which include Church Life Insurance Corporation, the Episcopal Church Medical Trust, the Church Insurance Agency Corporation, and Church Publishing Incorporated. CPG serves Episcopal clergy and lay employees and their families as well as Episcopal churches and institutions. It provides pension benefits and services, life and disability insurance, health benefits, property and casualty insurance, and book and music publishing (including the official worship materials of the Episcopal Church).
The Church Pension Group chose Oracle based on the strength of the database. It chose Oracle On-Demand for its technology infrastructure to keep costs low. Based in midtown Manhatten, the Church Pension Group could not have provided the same level of service at the same cost as they could using On-Demand. Once they started work on implementing Oracle Customer Data Hub, the Church Pension Group realized that having their client data centralized and quality-controlled across their organization allows them to do their business better. One of the ways that CPG was successful with Customer Data Hub was by not adopting an ERP solution approach but rather using a hub approach with the line-of-business managers choosing their own department's transactional systems that worked with the hub across the enterprise. This allows them to have the benefits of consolidated data resources without forcing transactional application adoption that almost necessarily fits some lines of business and not others. The solution was for The Church Pension Group to deploy an Oracle Customer Data Hub, which allowed each department the flexibility to continue to use their existing systems while at the same time relying on a single, centralized, and shared registry of high quality names and addresses. Each department's unique investment in their systems and business processes could be preserved. Once deployed, the Customer Data Hub was able to continuously identify and eliminate duplicate clergy, parish, and lay information.
