The Church Pension Group (CPG) consists of the Church Pension Fund, founded in 1914, and its affiliates, which include Church Life Insurance Corporation, the Episcopal Church Medical Trust, the Church Insurance Agency Corporation, and Church Publishing Incorporated. CPG serves Episcopal clergy and lay employees and their families as well as Episcopal churches and institutions. It provides pension benefits and services, life and disability insurance, health benefits, property and casualty insurance, and book and music publishing (including the official worship materials of the Episcopal Church).
The Church Pension Group chose Oracle based on the strength of the database. It chose Oracle On-Demand for its technology infrastructure to keep costs low. "Using Oracle Technology and Applications along with On Demand services makes sound business and technology sense," Crawley said. "I like Oracle's responsiveness, and the system works well for us. Our systems run out of Oracle's Austin Data Center. As an organization based in mid-town Manhattan, there's no way I could provide my organization with the same level of service as On Demand provides at the same cost. " Once it started work on its Oracle Customer Data Hub, the Church Pension Group purchased Oracle Financials to replace its previous financials applications suite, which wasn't a good match as it was developed for the manufacturing industry. "We were realizing a cost savings by using Oracle as our standard. We believe, "Do it once, do it right, and then integrate it." Next, the group plans to deploy Oracle Human Resource Management and several of Oracle's customer relationship management modules.
