JP Morgan Chase Global Finance Technology was asked to create a solution which allowed CFO and line of business organizations worldwide to manage expenses through the Finance Workspace Portal environment, with one-stop reporting and analytical capabilities. The solution was implemented through a series of rapid-application-development cycles with the first cycle completing in less than 90 days, and successive cycles to reach pilot production/full production readiness within six months. The EMPort solution (Expense Management Portal) required integration of advanced analytics into a portal environment. Global Finance Technology used the toolset consistent with the JP Morgan Chase Global Financial Architecture. Oracle Reports was used for standard reporting, Oracle Discoverer for ad hoc reporting, and Oracle Portal was used as a context-rich container. Business Intelligence capabilities were manifested as a series of portlets operating in the overall framework. All portlets were integrated seamlessly into the EMPort environment for comprehensive information delivery. The information architecture for this solution required integration of dozens of sources of information, including overseas ledgers, vendor accounts payables, commodity spending details in areas such as couriers, copiers, etc., and integration with invoice images. An Oracle relational data mart was established to act as a single source for disparate collected data. ETL tools were used to make the cyclical refresh of this environment a repeatable and high quality process. The user base for this solution currently includes hundreds of users worldwide from the CFO and line of business financial management teams. The solution supports over 1000 users worldwide. The entire solution is available via the JP Morgan Chase Intranet and requires no desktop support. |
